Thematic Instruction

Our curriculum is developed primarily by our staff and is related to themes. The themes for the 2008 -2009 school year are: Power, Form and Function (Structure), Future, Movement.

Units are developed around either science or social studies concepts and are inter- or multidisciplinary in nature.  Specific subjects and content covered under each theme vary by age group and educator, but each age group has a specific set of academic standards that must be achieved.  For example, every graduate is expected to pass the U.S. Constitution test, have studied algebra, understand and apply the scientific process, write a persuasive essay, qualify for second-year high school Spanish, understand basic rhythms, have competency researching on the Internet, and understand how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
