CLC’s position about best relocation option

Posted on

As many of you are aware, there is an active discussion and decision making process going on district-wide about where CLC will be relocated.  The San Carlos School Board is meeting this Thursday evening (August 28 at 7:15 PM) to make a decision about where to place us on currently owned district land. The choice seems to be between Heather Elementary or on the upper part of Tierra Linda campus.
As part of this process, the SCSB has asked us what our position is on the relocation site – not that we will have ultimate say – but to continue to hear our voice in this process. Today we sent a letter to the Superintendent and the SCSB explaining our preference and detailing our reasons for this preference. You can read the full text of that letter by clicking on this link: LetterToSchoolBoard_August2014-final

Over the summer, a group of representatives from all the schools on our campus plus district personnel worked together to ensure the continued safety of our kids. Some of the improvements are external to our campus (a professional crossing guard at the intersection of San Carlos Avenue and Dartmouth, for example) but the main emphasis is on changing behaviors at drop-off and pick-up times.

For this to work, parents need to be aware of the new procedures and commit to following them.  If we all work cooperatively in this effort, traffic flow and the safety of our children will improve dramatically.

PLEASE READ the following TL Campus Traffic Safety pamphlet carefully! If you have any questions, feel free to contact the CLC office.
